I’m Tarfur Viggosson, but everyone calls me Tarfi. Or Trevor. My nickname growing up was Elf, thus my site’s name. You can probably guess that I’m on the shorter side (and super-cute). Astro, just because it sounds cool, and maybe because I’m a private pilot. I was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, but have lived in many places, including Reykjavík (my family is from there), Chicago, Connecticut, Los Angeles, Bangkok, Jakarta, Baltimore, and New York City. I now live in Ithaca, NY most of the time and work for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, a research, education and conservation organization all about birds. I’ve always loved things that fly. My (late) father was a Navy pilot, and his favorite book was The Little Prince, which is what he called me. I’m actually named after the author’s hometown of Tarfaya, Morocco, and also in part for my great great great grandfather, who was the original (as far as I know) Tarfur Viggosson. My partner, Seth, and I are the proud parents of 3 cats and a new puppy.
